

Beginners I
Description
Beginners I is a foundation course that teaches everyday conversation in social and business contexts, along with basic grammar. The course addresses all four language skills of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing, with a focus on Speaking.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of Beginners I, you will be able to:
- Greet others using several regional greetings and culture-specific expressions
- Introduce oneself and share information about occupation, nationality, country of origin, and family.
- Introduce a third person (friend, colleague, family member etc.).
- Describe everyday life (plans, routines and schedules), such as “I have a meeting tomorrow; We do not work on Friday. I take my children to school in the morning. We will visit Spain next summer; I can speak Arabic a little etc.”
- Describe likes and dislikes, such as, “I love Lebanese food. I like to travel to Russia. I do not like traffic etc.”
- Describe current state of being, such as “I am very busy; I have, I am tired / hungry / happy because…etc.”
- Engage in dialogue with others; ask and respond to questions, such as “How long have you been living in the UAE? Where do you work? Do you visit your country every year? How many children does he have? When is her appointment with the doctor?”
- Invite people over for coffee, lunch, dinner etc.
